Ludhiana, May 11, 2023: CT University, in collaboration with the Arjan Vir Foundation, organized an enlightening lecture on Thalassemia and Stem Cell Donation Registration. The session aimed to create awareness about the crucial role of stem cell donations in saving lives suffering from blood cancer. Jasleen Garcha, the CEO of the Arjan Vir Foundation, delivered the lecture, sharing valuable insights into Thalassemia and the importance of stem cells.

CT University, recognizing its social responsibility, consistently commits to important causes. During the lecture, Jasleen Garcha provided in-depth knowledge about Thalassemia and stem cell donations, emphasizing the need for increased participation in this life-saving initiative. She highlighted that "patients with blood cancer can be saved if a suitable stem cell donor is found. Unfortunately, the chances of finding a compatible donor are exceptionally rare, estimated at one in a million."

She further emphasized that stem cell donation registrations in India only amount to half a million, while the nation's population exceeds 1.3 billion. Consequently, Indians must import stem cells from abroad, costing up to Rs 50 lakhs, which is beyond the average person's means. The lecture explained the process of stem cell donation, reassuring potential donors that they face minimal problems while offering a dying person the gift of life.

Motivated by the lecture, CT University students and faculty registered as stem cell donors on the spot.
Deputy Director of Student Welfare, Er. Davinder Singh said “CT University and the Arjan Vir Foundation continue to urge individuals to register as stem cell donors, highlighting the transformative impact it can have on the lives of cancer patients. By increasing awareness and fostering a culture of donation, we aim to bridge the gap between stem cell demand and availability in India”.

Dr. Satish, the Vice Chancellor (off.) of CT University, expressed his appreciation for the event, stating, "CT University is dedicated to creating a positive impact on society, and the collaboration with the Arjan Vir Foundation aligns perfectly with our mission. We are proud of our faculty for their enthusiastic response and commitment to making a difference in the lives of individuals battling blood cancer."

On this occasion, Deputy Director of Student Welfare, Er. Davinder Singh, Deputy Director of Cultural Affairs, Sarghi Kaur Barring, Assistant Manager of Operations, Pawanveer Kaur, faculty members, and students were present.
