CT Group Students Develop Smart Garbage Collector Robot for Automated Waste Handling

Students of CT Group of Institutions, Maqsudan, Jalandhar, under the guidance of their faculty mentors Kanwar Singh and Prerna, have developed a Smart Garbage Collector Robot aimed at making waste handling safer, smarter and more efficient.

Jalandhar, August 19, 2026: Students of CT Group of Institutions, Maqsudan, Jalandhar, under the guidance of their faculty mentors Kanwar Singh and Prerna, have developed a Smart Garbage Collector Robot aimed at making waste handling safer, smarter and more efficient.

The innovative prototype integrates robotics, embedded systems, sensors and wireless technology to automate waste collection and reduce human involvement in repetitive and unhygienic tasks. Powered by an ESP32 development board, the robot controls its movement, sensors, wireless commands and garbage collection mechanism with precision. Equipped with DC motors, an L298N motor driver, HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensors and IR sensors, it can navigate in multiple directions, detect obstacles and collect waste into an onboard storage compartment. The prototype was successfully tested in a controlled indoor environment, where it demonstrated effective movement, obstacle detection, wireless control, garbage collection and battery performance.

The Smart Garbage Collector Robot has the potential to be deployed in classrooms, laboratories, offices, corridors and other institutional spaces. Future enhancements may include IoT-based monitoring, smartphone control, autonomous navigation, camera-based guidance, solar-assisted charging and AI-based waste classification, making the system even more intelligent.

The project reflects CT Group’s continued focus on innovation, sustainability, experiential learning and technology-driven solutions.
