CPI Ludhiana Unit expresses anguish at death of 5 newborn babies

Ludhiana, November 24, 2014: Ludhiana Unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has expressed deep grief and anguish at the death of 5 newborn babies in Civil Hospital, Ludhiana.

In a statement here today, the party’s assistant secretaries Dr Arun Mitra and DP Maur said this has thoroughly exposed the government’s claims of providing quality health care in state run medical institutions. “We have been demanding time and again that the Civil Hospital Ludhiana should be updated with latest equipment”, they said, adding this is even more true for mother child care unit but the government’s apathy towards its own institutions has led to such an incident.

“We demand immediate updating of the facilities in the hospital so as to prevent any such incident from reoccurring”, they asserted.
