CP assured Ludhiana traders of full security at all trade centres and focal points

Ludhiana, November 16, 2022: A deputation of Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) today met Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana Mandeep Singh Sidhu and submitted a memorandum.

The delegation was comprised of Sunil Mehra (state general secretary) and other leaders including Praveen Goyal, Ashwani Mahajan, Ayush Aggarwal (secretary), Munish Ahuja Adv., Banwari Lal Harjai, Amit Gupta Adv., Ashwani Mehra, Mayank Mehra, Pawan Malhotra and Rakesh Dhawan.

The memorandum was submitted under signatures of PPBM Sunil Mehra (state general secretary), Pawan Lehar (chairman), Arvinder Makkar (president), Surinder Aggarwal (general secretary) and Ayush Aggarwal (secretary). The memorandum reads as under:

Law and Order:
It is the most prevailing issue of the city and state. It is not out of place to mention that there are many past circumstantial events pertaining to daylight lootings and murders in the city. Attacks on the police headquarters, Patiala, murder of Sidhu Moosewala, murder of Sudhir Suri over religious feud and many more have added fear in the hearts of civilians and especially the traders and businessmen. Many traders and businessmen have stopped coming to Ludhiana during peak season of the hosiery and for other industrial purposes as a result the business of the state and the Manchester city of India has gone down by 50% pertaining to loss of Rs.300 crore only in Ludhiana and crossing Rs.1,000 crores in the state every month. Many industrialists and businessmen have fled from the state and transferred their businesses to adjoining states due to fear of law-and-order unrest. Ludhiana is also a hub of many export items like hosiery, cardboards, steel, cycles etc and due to fear of murderers and looters the export business have gone down by 55% as a result there is acute shortage of labor in the industry. During pandemic times, many laborers have gone back to their states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar but due to law and order unrest they gear to return to work. We hope that your kind self will take this matter on urgent basis so that the peace and industry can be stepped up again in the city and industry can flourish again in your supervision.

Traffic Problems:
Another issue faced by the city is the huge traffic problems. As you might have been acquainted with the construction projects going on in the city and the areas of the high alert in terms of traffic, we would like to add that major areas like railway station, clock tower, Mata Rani Chowk, Chaura Bazar, Kesar Ganj Mandi, Division No.3, Bharat Nagar, Arti chowk, Ghumar Mandi market, Model Town Market, Dugri Market and surrounded areas are the major traffic convergent areas. There is a need to deploy traffic policemen at these areas to smoothly function the traffic. In the current situation, traffic officials who work alongwith the Volunteers either just stand idle at the locations or are absent from these locations. Traffic volunteers do not follow the proper code of conduct and sometimes harass the public.  Due to traffic problems, it becomes difficult to transport the industrial goods smoothly and often become hindrance for the traders and businessmen coming from outstations like Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan etc. We request you to kindly update the CCTVs in the high traffic prone areas and deploy the accountable traffic officials to smoothly handle the traffic.

Ban on Chinese Dor:
Since it is the season of Lohri at our doorsteps and every year we hear about the tragic incidents that occur due to the use of banned Chinese dor. We request you to kindly keep a strict check on the sellers of the Chinese dors so that innocent children, animals, and public do not become the sacrificial offering for the sake of temporary happiness of the festival.
The delegates hoped that Commissioner of Police will look into the matters with the utmost urgency and help in uplifting peace and business in the city.

Giving further details, Sunil Mehra said Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana told them that any society cannot flourish without the expansion and smooth functioning of business. CP further told the delegates that business is the integral part of society development and soon he would conduct the meeting with business organizations to understand their difficulties and make appropriate measures to correct them. CP also assured that Ludhiana was a trade city and full security would be provided at all trade centres and focal points.
