Covid-19 vaccination to start for 30,000 healthcare workers of District Ludhiana from Jan 16: DC

Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma today informed that the Covid-19 vaccination for healthcare workers of district Ludhiana would be held from January 16-18, 2021. He said that several locations have been identified in the district, where vaccination would be carried out by different teams of expert doctors. He said that in the first phase, more than 30,000 healthcare workers of district Ludhiana would be administered Covid-19 vaccine.

    While chairing a meeting in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner informed that the district administration Ludhiana has already successfully completed the dry run regarding the Covid 19 vaccine. He was also accompanied by ADC (D) Mr Sandeep Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr Sukhjeevan Kakkar, Joint Commissioner of Police Mr J Elanchezhian, District Immunisation Officer Dr Kiran Gill, besides doctors from all prominent private hospitals. He also held a Facebook live session on the official Facebook page of District Public Relations Office Ludhiana today.

    The Deputy Commissioner informed that in the first phase, more than 30,000 healthcare workers (both government and private) of district Ludhiana, who have registered themselves on the government portal, would be administered the Covid 19 vaccine, followed by Aanganwari workers, people aged above 50 years, people below 50 years with comorbidities, and others.

    He clarified that this vaccine would not be available off the shelf for the time being and only people who have got themselves registered on the government portal would be covered under it. He said that upon registration, the beneficiaries would receive an SMS informing the date and place where the Covid 19 vaccine would be administered to them.

    He further stated that to clear the doubts of residents regarding this vaccine, a panel of doctors comprising Civil Surgeon Dr Sukhjeevan Kakkar, District Immunisation Officer Dr Kiran Gill, Dr Bishav Mohan and Dr Anurag Chaudhary from Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana would come live on the official Facebook page of District Public Relations Office Ludhiana (http://www.facebook.com/dproludhianapage/) at 3 pm tomorrow, i.e. January 14, 2021. He said that residents can also submit their queries on this page online and can also join online.

    Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma urged the residents to not fall prey to any rumours on social media and warned of strict action if any person is found spreading rumours regarding Covid-19 vaccine. /(January 13, 2020)
