Jalandhar /Chandigarh, January 15, 2026: In a significant blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a Jalandhar court has passed a strong order in the fake video case involving former Delhi Chief Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi. Acting on the forensic report which conclusively established that the video was doctored and fabricated, the court has directed its immediate removal from all major social media platforms, delivering a major setback to BJP's Politics of falsehood and provocation.
The court has ordered Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Telegram to remove the fake and doctored video within 24 hours. Taking a firm stand against the spread of misinformation, the court has further directed all social media platforms to immediately take down any identical or similar videos upon receiving information from the Cyber Crime Department, making it clear that the circulation of such fake content will not be tolerated.
Reacting to the court’s order, AAP Punjab President Aman Arora said that once again BJP’s lies, deceit and malicious intentions have been completely exposed. “Over the past few days, BJP tried to spread outright lies by falsely linking the name of our senior leader and former Delhi CM Atishi with an alleged insult to our revered Gurus in the Assembly. This was a calculated conspiracy to hurt the religious sentiments of the people of Punjab and to deliberately disturb communal harmony,” said Aman Arora.
The AAP Punjab State President said that this was not the first time BJP’s propaganda had been exposed. “Earlier too, forensic investigation had clearly proved that the videos circulated by Kapil Mishra and other BJP leaders, along with their ‘allied’ partners, be it Congress or Akali Dal, were completely fake and doctored. Despite knowing the truth, they continued to spread these fabricated videos. Today, the Jalandhar court has categorically ruled that these videos are fake, fraudulent and nothing but deception, and has ordered their removal from all social media platforms,” he added.
Launching a scathing attack on BJP, Aman Arora said the court order has made it clear that BJP survives on cheap, low-level and deceitful politics. “This clearly proves that to keep its hollow and petty politics alive, BJP can stoop to any level and use the most disgraceful lies. BJP is no longer the Bharatiya Janata Party; it has turned into a ‘Bharatiya Jhootha Party’, whose only agenda is to lie, spread slander and communal poison to run its politics in Punjab,” he said.
He demanded an unconditional public apology from all those who shared and promoted the fake video. “I believe BJP leaders, along with leaders of Congress and Akali Dal who shamelessly shared and amplified this fake video, must apologise to the people of Punjab. They tried to play with the faith of Punjabis for political gains. The court’s order has completely unmasked their conspiracy,” he asserted.
