Chandigarh, July 5, 2026: Retired IAS officer and MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal said that the Congress party is steadily growing stronger and moving towards forming the government again at the Centre. He stated that Congress forming governments in several states has boosted the morale of party workers. With the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for 2027, he said the party has a golden opportunity to regain the people's trust and form the government in the state.
Appealing to Punjab Congress leaders and workers, Dhaliwal urged them to set aside personal differences and factionalism and work together to strengthen the organization. He emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) should not be given any opportunity to spread propaganda against the Congress.
Dhaliwal said that the Punjab Congress leadership must rise above personal interests and work for the welfare of the party and the people while strengthening the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. He expressed confidence that with the unity of Congress and its commitment to public welfare, the party would form the government in Punjab and help lead the country on the path of development and prosperity.
He said that since assuming power at the Centre in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently promoted the slogan of a "Congress-free India." However, he added that the people of the country now understand the reality behind this political narrative. According to him, Congress and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, were subjected to years of negative propaganda, but people have now realized that the BJP's politics is based on lies and misinformation.
Dhaliwal alleged that over the past decade, the BJP spent crores of rupees through social media and various other platforms to tarnish the image of Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family. Despite these efforts, he said, Rahul Gandhi's popularity has continued to grow. He added that Rahul Gandhi has consistently raised the issues of the people across the country and has been fighting for justice, the Constitution, and democracy for the past 12 years. As a result, his acceptance has increased not only across India but also internationally, and ordinary citizens have begun to see him as their voice.
He further alleged that the policies of the Central Government have weakened the country's economy, leaving ordinary citizens burdened by inflation, unemployment, and economic challenges. He said that the people of the country now want change and, disappointed with the policies of the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party, are looking towards the Congress with renewed hope.
