Congress Workers Must Unite and Start Working for 2027 Victory: Suraj Thakur

Hoshiarpur, September 26, 2026: Punjab Congress co-in-charge and All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Suraj Thakur on Saturday called upon workers and office-bearers at an organisational meeting of the Hoshiarpur District Congress to start preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections with full strength from now onwards. He said that all leaders and workers must put aside their differences and work together to ensure the victory of the Congress. Punjab Congress Working President Sukhwinder Singh Danny Bandala and Working President Sangat Singh Gilzian were also present at the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Suraj Thakur said that activating the organisation up to the booth level is the need of the hour to strengthen the Congress in Punjab. He sought detailed constituency-level reports from district office-bearers, block presidents and workers, listened to their feedback and held one-on-one discussions to make the organisation more effective. He assured the workers and leaders that he would undertake a three-day tour of Hoshiarpur district in October, visiting all constituencies and meeting them personally.
He urged the workers to remain continuously active among the people and strongly raise Congress policies and issues concerning public welfare so that the party enters the 2027 elections with greater strength. He said that the people of Punjab are fed up with the Aam Aadmi Party government and want a Congress government. He asserted that the Congress is set to form the government in Punjab again with a strong majority.
During the meeting, Punjab Congress Working President Sukhwinder Singh Danny Bandala also announced that a dharna-protest against the Chief Election Commissioner would be organised at the District Congress Office in Hoshiarpur on September 28. He appealed to all Congress workers to participate in large numbers and make the protest successful.
Among those present on the occasion were Lok Sabha candidate Yamini Gomar, former MLA Pawan Adia, former MLA Arun Dogra Micky, District Congress President Daljit Singh Gilzian, Amarpreet Singh Lally, and Advocate Rohit Joshi, along with several senior leaders and office-bearers.
