Congress State Chief Raja Warring slams AAP Government for not providing any compensation to flood victims

Ferozepur, August 28, 2023: State Congress Chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring today slammed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP government for not providing appropriate compensation to flood affected villagers. Thousands of Congress workers assembled for a huge rally in front of District Administrative Complex.

Condemning AAP government for its failure to address public grievance and its lethargy in providing appropriate compensation to the flood victims in the state Warring said that AAP’s inexperience aggravated the devastation in Punjab and the residents paid a very heavy price for the ‘Badlaav’ they voted for. Warring said that the state government first failed to manage the  disaster of floods and now it has been deliberately delaying the compensation to those who lost their house and valuables in the recent floods. "Our protest won’t stop, it would only intensified to wake up the government at helm from its deep slumber and force it to address the issues that concerns the lives of the people of Punjab. Congress is with the people of the state and it would continue to fight for them", said Warring.

While boosting the Congress workers, Warring said that this dharna is a testament to people's rage against the party in power in Punjab. "The misdeeds and misrule of AAP had broken the mirage of ‘Badlaav’, and the people would definitely teach a lesson to the Fokki Mashhooriyan Wali Sarkaar for its lies and fake promises in the days to come", he added.

Castigating the AAP government for its ineptitude and for ignoring the crisis situation that people faced alone, Warring said that AAP failed not only to fulfil its poll promises but it also failed in maintaining the law and order in the state. "One and a half year of AAP’s regime had exposed their hollow claims. Be it the drug menace, illegal sand mining, law & order situation, healthcare facilities, education system or other issues or public facilities, everything deteriorated under the AAP government. It took a long time for Punjab to recover from the trauma of the dark days but the Bhagwant Mann-led government was hellbent on pushing it back to the days of unrest", rued Warring.

Coming down heavily on the double standards of the Punjab CM, Warring said that before grabbing power in the state Mann used to advocate ‘compensation first and girdawari later’ strategy for the welfare of the farmers, but it’s astonishing that he himself was now killing time in "girdawaris". He said that the CM had announced compensation for the farmers who had lost their produce in the hailstorm but the farmers were yet to receive the same.

"We had been protesting against the state government for the rights of our people and we would keep raising our voice till the Punjab CM does not provide adequate compensation for the flood victims", said Warring adding that the party would continue to expose AAP’s atrocities, failures and scams and nothing could intimidate party workers or the leaders.

"Congress had demanded minimum of Rs 50000 thousand per acre compensation for the farmers, financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for those whose houses have got damaged, ex gratia of 5 lakhs for the injured and 10 lakhs to the bereaved families who have lost their loved ones. We have also demanded financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the shopkeepers who have suffered colossal losses, Rs 50,000 for the owners, whose milch cattle have died in the natural calamity, said Warring adding that the Congress party will force the government to compensate each and every victim.
