Congress, Akalis backstabbed Babasaheb Ambedkar by snatching education from poor, looting scholarship funds: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann

Adampur (Jalandhar), April 14, 2026: Marking the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday drew a direct line between decades of Congress-Akali rule and the systematic denial of education to the poor, stating that keeping underprivileged communities uneducated was a deliberate political choice that crushed generations of Dalit youth while scholarship funds meant for their upliftment were siphoned off. Contrasting this with his government’s approach, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is reversing this legacy of neglect by prioritising education and women’s financial empowerment to realise Babasaheb’s vision of dignity and equal opportunity.
Addressing the gathering during a state level function to mark birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb BR Ambedkar in Adampur, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The AAP government is working tirelessly for ameliorating the woes of weaker and underprivileged sections of society to realize the dreams of Babasaheb- the Chief Architect of Indian Constitution.”
The Chief Minister asserted, “Babasaheb was a great scholar, jurist, economist, social reformer and a statesman. Babasaheb Ambedkar was one of the most towering personalities in the entire world history. Though Babasaheb Ambedkar hailed from a humble family, his outstanding contribution has brought him in the league of global leaders.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “The Indian Constitution was the result of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s hard work, dedication and far sightedness. Babasaheb was not only the leader of weaker sections but he was the leader of entire humanity.”
Exhorting the gathering to follow the path shown by Babasaheb Ambedkar, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Babasaheb Ambedkar had always encouraged the democratic values in every field, be it social, economic and political, he advocated equal status and respect for all. In consonance with the life and philosophy of Babasaheb, the state government has prioritized education and has taken path breaking initiatives in the Education sector to transform the lives of people.”
The Chief Minister noted, “No freebie or concession cards can eliminate poverty or other social maladies in the state but education is the key that can pull people out of this vicious circle by raising their standard of living. Earlier leaders left no stone unturned for backstabbing Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar and shattering their dreams.”
Citing an example, he said, “Former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s vision for the people is reflective from the fact that in his tenure no one was failed in schools till ninth standard as a result of which the students were not able to realize their weakness and subsequently failed in Matric thereby ruining their entire life.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Rather than empowering these people by making them officers through quality education Badal’s just ensured that the students of poor doesn’t study and remained confined upto Atta Dal scheme only.” He added, “Generations of the weaker sections were at the mercy of the Badals through their ill conceived Atta Dal scheme.” He said, “These people backstabbed Babasaheb Ambedkar by depriving the people of underprivileged and economically weaker sections of education.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted, “The hands of these leaders are drenched with the blood of the several generations of SCs as their careers were ruined by these people for their greed and lust. These leaders usurped the money meant for the scholarship of the poor students thereby ensuring that they do not succeed in life. These leaders who were born with silver spoons and golden biscuits in their mouth are not aware of the hardships faced by the common man who has to even work during the festival.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The AAP government has started ‘Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana’ as per which every woman will be entitled for ₹1,000 per month and ₹1,500 per month for women belonging to Scheduled Castes. Funds will be directly transferred to bank accounts and women already receiving social security pensions will also be eligible. 97% of women in Punjab are expected to benefit and the state government has allotted Rs 9,300 crore in the budget. Registration for this will begin from April 13.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Those who are mocking the Punjab government over the launch of the scheme or are raising baseless queries don’t know the value of ₹1000 for common people. These people who spend more than ₹5,000 per meal from the money minted illegally don’t value this money which is a big financial assistance for those who have to work hard also on the day of festivals.” He further said, “The wives of these affluent leaders don’t need ₹1000 as they spend more on the purchase of their cosmetics.”
Advocating greater participation of women in socio, economic and political fields to carve a niche for themselves, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann stated, “It is imperative that the girls come forward and empower themselves through education. It is in the larger interest of the nation as the women who manage the homes and the families efficiently should also run the country. The AAP government is committed to this noble cause and is leaving no stone unturned for it.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The girls must come forward and participate in politics for becoming an active partner in the decision making policy mechanism and to bring the necessary and much needed change in society. Though these days girls have outnumbered boys in every other field but Politics is still an exception to it. The field has been hitherto considered as fiefdom of the men but now the time has come when the women must excel in this field too.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Women’s participation in this field is imperative to carve out an egalitarian society and in the larger interest of society and state. This will help in cementing the ethos of democracy at the grass root level along with enhancing the participation of women in this field. The women must ensure that they and their family exercise their franchise carefully so that their vote makes a difference by sending the right type of leaders in the state assembly and Parliament.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “From this stage the talks are being made on education, health, power, agriculture and other sectors whereas on the stages of other parties claims are being made for grabbing power. These opportunist leaders are baffled as people are not giving them any sort of response. Their agenda is confined to the welfare of their families rather than that of people. These people had ruled for a long period of time but due to their incompetence and misrule people had elected the AAP which is working tirelessly for them.”
He said, “These were the traitors who have never been loyal to the state and its people. As a fact of matter the traditional parties are envious of them because of AAP, because he has set the agenda of the welfare of the common man.”
He quipped, “The Congress leadership is a divided house as more leaders are present on the stage in their functions rather than the workers in their rallies. These Congress leaders have no vision for the state. Their only aim is to plunder the wealth of Punjab by assuming power but their dreams will never get fulfilled.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “For the first time farmers have been provided more than eight hours of power supply during paddy season. 95% supply has been ensured during daytime. 300 units of free electricity per month are being provided to all domestic consumers. Around 90% of domestic consumers are receiving zero electricity bills. More than 65 thousand youngsters have got government jobs.”
He also appealed to the people to enroll for Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna so that they will get cashless treatment of ₹10 lakh.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This is taxpayers money and the AAP government is utilizing every single penny of it in the larger public interest. This was missing in Punjab’s politics since long. These parties used to play musical chairs in power and waited for their turns to plunder people and the country. Baffled by the unprecedented works done by the AAP government Akali leader Sukhbir Badal is promising moon to people besides making baseless and irrational statements like returning of Dinosaurs in the state.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “On the basis of these irresponsible statements the former Deputy Chief Minister is day dreaming to acquire the power in the state which will never be possible. These leaders start spitting venom against him at the early dawn of the day as he has exposed their ugly face before the people, who are well aware of their dubious character. The name of the Akali Dal is so bad that even if it is written on a tree then it gets dried up, so the people have to be very cautious of them.”
The Chief Minister stated, “These people had mercilessly plundered the wealth and resources of the common man for which they will never be forgiven. These people have always sided with the anti-Punjab forces to eliminate Punjab and Punjabis may be with bullets like on Vaisakhi of 1919 or through the drug which was patronized by them in the state during their long misrule. The AAP  government is making strenuous efforts for the well being of every strata of the society. Our government is judiciously utilizing every single penny of the state exchequer for the well being of the people of the state.”
Extending greetings on Vaisakhi, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This sacred occasion reminds the people of our centuries old rich and glorious cultural heritage.” He added, “On this auspicious day in 1699 Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji the Tenth Master of the Sikhs created Khalsa at the holy city of Sri Anandpur Sahib by baptizing Panj Pyaras belonging to different castes thereby carving out an egalitarian society and preaching the wisdom of love and compassion for mankind besides universal brotherhood and communal harmony.”
He further said, “This festival marks the beginning of the harvest season and ripening of Rabi crops.” He added, “People should celebrate this auspicious festival in unison with traditional fervour and gaiety to strengthen the secular and social fabric of our country.”
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “This day is very important for every Punjabi as they take inspiration from Dashmesh Pitaah and living Guru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji for every decision of their life. However, the Akalis bruised the psyche of every Punjabi through the heinous crime of beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji during their tenure. The perpetrators of this unpardonable crime evaded punishment due to lack of intent by Congress and Akalis. Now our government has passed the historic Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026 thereby stipulating harsher punishment for beadbi.”
He said, “The sole representative of the family, which had felicitated General Dyer, the perpetrator of Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13, 1919, by hosting a dinner for him after this heinous incident, preferred to abstain on this important day from the house. They remained away from the house because they were well aware of the fact that they were bound to be exposed. The hands of these leaders are drenched with the blood of the innocent people and even the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji for which they can never be forgiven.”
Addressing the gathering, senior AAP leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia said, “CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the registration for this scheme has started today. If Babasaheb had not framed the constitution then such functions will not have taken place. In Delhi we had installed the pictures of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh during their stint in government but these were removed as soon as BJP came into power because BJP hates these leaders.”
He added, “The PM Modi led Union government is making strenuous efforts to deprive the residents of their right to vote just to backstab Babasaheb. Punjab has the first SC Finance Minister in the form of Harpal Cheema just because of twin pillars of Education and Financial empowerment which was the basis of the ideology of Babasaheb. The AAP government is making strenuous efforts to realize the aspirations of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.”
Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora, Harpal Singh Cheema, Dr. Baljeet Kaur, Harbhajan Singh ETO and Mohinder Bhagat, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, Lok Sabha MP Dr. Rajkumar Chabbewal, Chairman Punjab State Cooperative Agriculture Development Bank Pawan Kumar Tinu and others.
