Commissionerate Police Ludhiana steps up action against eve-teasing, issues challans, seizes vehicles

Ludhiana, July 15, 2025: As a major step towards ensuring safety near educational and entertainment spots, Commissionerate Police Ludhiana has launched a special campaign against eve-teasing and harassment. This campaign is being run under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma.
During this campaign, a total of 12 police teams — comprising 4 Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police and other gazetted officers — were deployed at important locations in the Commissionerate. These teams kept on intensive checks near schools, colleges and entertainment spots. As a result of the action, 118 challans were issued by the police and 12 vehicles were seized.
The aim of this operation was to create a safe and respectful environment for students and the general public, especially the youth going to schools and colleges. The presence of police at the checking points acted as both a deterrent and confidence booster for the people.
Commissioner Swapan Sharma has issued instructions to further intensify such enforcement operations in the coming days, so that strict action can be taken against mischievous elements and public law and order is maintained.
