Commissionerate Police bust interstate drug peddling racket with recovery of one quintal of poppy husk 

Ludhiana, November 11, 2021:  In another major strike against drug peddlers, Commissionerate Police on Thursday foiled attempt of pushing drugs to Punjab by busting an interstate drug peddling gang and seized one quintal poppy husk from two trucks in separate incidents.
The arrested accused persons have been identified as Amanjot Singh (25) of Deharka in Jagraon, Ravinder Singh (19) of Kapure village and Mandeep Singh (38) of Jalalabad village in Moga district. Amanjot is civil engineering diploma holder. 
Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police (CP) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that on a tip-off, the Police laid a trap at Bilga road, CIA Staff-1 team stopped a Ashok Leyland truck bearing registration number (PB03-BF-9151) and arrested Ravinder Singh and Mandeep Singh after seizing 40-kg poppy husk hidden in tool box. He said that a case under sections 15, 25, 29, 61 and 85 of NDPS Act has been registered against them in Sahnewal Police Station. 
He further added the second party of CIA staff-1 stopped the truck bearing the registration number (PB-10DS-1792) being driven by Amanjot Singh. The team seized 60-kg poppy husk hidden in tool box of the truck. He said that a case under sections 15, 25, 61 and 85 of NDPS Act has been registered against them in Sahnewal Police Station. Amanjot is also owner of this truck. 
Commissioner of Police told that Mandeep Singh was involved in driving for last 15-years and had purchased Ashok Leyland truck three years ago. Ravinder Singh is his cousin. 
He told that Mandeep and Amanjot were used to bring poppy husk from Jharkhand while their routine travels in the state. They were selling the contraband at Rs 4500 per kg here by purchasing Rs 2200 per kg from Jharkhand. 
Commissioner of Police told that three of them would be taken on the police remand and would be quizzed further about the persons involved in the racket.
