Commemorating the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

Ludhiana, November 18, 2025: In view of the grand Nagar Kirtan being organised by Punjab Government to commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, which is scheduled to reach Ludhiana on November 20, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Tuesday stated that the district administration will make comprehensive and befitting arrangements for this historic religious event.

Chairing a detailed review meeting attended by GLADA Additional Chief Administrator Ojsavi Alankar, Additional Deputy Commissioners Amarjit Bains, Kulpreet Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh and other senior officials, the DC reiterated that the administration is duty-bound to ensure devotees can participate in the Nagar Kirtan with full devotion and enthusiasm. He stressed that every possible measure would be taken to make the occasion truly memorable.
Flower petals will be showered on the sacred Sri Palki Sahib throughout the entire route. A ceremonial guard of honour will also be presented to the Nagar Kirtan at its entry points in Jagraon, Ludhiana city, and Khanna.

For effective on-ground coordination, the administration has appointed 10 Punjab Civil Service (PCS) officers as Sector Officers with clearly defined responsibilities covering cleanliness, removal of garbage dumps and dangling wires, proper lighting, road repairs, traffic management, crowd control, medical teams with ambulances, langar arrangements, fire tenders, temporary toilets, deployment of Municipal Corporation staff, flower-petal showers, and overall liaison with police and other departments.

The route has been divided into sectors as follows: SDM Jagraon will oversee arrangements from Jagraon to CT University, Estate Officer GLADA from CT University to the Municipal Corporation limit, SDM West (in coordination with MC Joint Commissioner) from the MC limit to Malhar Road and onward to Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib, SDM East from Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib to Jalandhar Bypass, MC Joint Commissioner from Jalandhar Bypass to Samrala Chowk, AETC-II Ludhiana from Samrala Chowk to Sherpur Chowk, RTA Secretary from Sherpur Chowk to Sahnewal entry point, SDM Samrala from Sahnewal to Khanna entry point, and SDM Khanna from Khanna entry point to Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.
Emphasising zero tolerance for any shortcoming, the Deputy Commissioner directed all officers to perform their duties with complete "sewa bhawna" so that devotees face no inconvenience during the sacred event. He appealed to all residents of Ludhiana to participate in large numbers in this once-in-a-lifetime Nagar Kirtan and receive the blessings of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

The Nagar Kirtan arriving from Faridkot, Moga, will have its night halt at Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib on November 20 before continuing its onward journey. On November 20, it will proceed for Sri Fatehgarh Sahib district.
