Ludhiana, June 29, 2017: The Directorate of Students’ Welfare, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a seven-day hiking and trekking tour to Solan (Himachal Pradesh) in which a group of 30 students including girls and boys participated.

Dr (Mrs) Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU, appreciated the discipline maintained by the students during the tour. She said, “Sports and co-curricular activities develop self-confidence and enhance student’s personality.” She added that University has been making efforts to develop overall personality of the students by involving them in various literary, cultural and sports activities. She advised the youth to continue participating in cultural, sports and youth activities.

Briefing about the tour, Mr Satvir Singh, Welfare Officer, said such tours not only refresh the students but also give them good exposure and learning experience. During the tour, students used to hike and trek on an average 10 – 15 kms per day. They visited places like Tibetan Monestry, Jakhu Temple, Baru Sahib, Shimla, Dara ki Dhar Fort etc., he informed. The students enjoyed the beauty of nature, fluctuable cool and healthy environment while trekking through thick forests, he added.

The students attended the tour under the supervision of Dr Paramjit Singh (Professor Physics), Dr (Mrs) Narinderjit Kaur (Extenion Specilist FRM), and Mr Satvir Singh (Welfare Officer).
