Continuing medical education(CME) programme on binuclear vision and low vision being organised by Punjab Ophthalmic Officers’ Association in collaboration with Sankara Eye Care Institutions at Sankara Eye Hospital, Ludhiana on Sunday.

Ludhiana, March 30, 2014: Continuing medical education(CME) programme on binuclear vision and low vision was organised by Punjab Ophthalmic Officers’ Association in collaboration with Sankara Eye Care Institutions at Sankara Eye Hospital, Ludhiana on Sunday.
About 60 Ophthalmic Officers /Optometrist across the state participated in this programme. Dr. Aditya Goyal, Principal School of Optometry Sankara Eye Care Institutions and Other renowned faculty from The School of Optometry, Bangalore delivered lectures on various issues related to Optometry .He also made the participants aware of the latest trends in the field of Optometry globally.
Participants showed keen interest in the topics discussed and a lot of healthy deliberations followed. Narinder Mehta the president of the association thanked the Sankara Eye Care Institutions for making this C.M.E possible for the delegates coming from all over Punjab. He further assured percolation of knowledge through the CME which would go a long way, in serving the poor masses, as most of the Ophthalmic Officers are posted at grass root level in the community.
Pardeep Bharti President (I.P) stressed upon the need to organise this type of educational programmes in future too because this type of programmes enrich the cadre with latest trends in technology which are ultimately in the interest of community.
A Lateral entry Bachelor in Optometry ( BOptom), a fresh course offered  by Chitkara University Banur was also launched. Narinder Mehta and Preethi Pardhan the dean of School of Heath Sciences Chitkara University answered the various queries by the participants in relation to the Bachelor Programme. This would be immensely useful for the entire participants as it provides a platform to upgrade their qualifications.
In the end Brig. M.S Gujral (Retd) CEO and Dr. Anamica Ahuja, CAO Sankara Eye Hospital, Ludhiana thanked the entire participants and members of the CME managing team for a well-organised effort.
