Ludhiana, January 28, 2015: A CME on Cardiology was held today in Dumra Auditorium by Department of Cardiology - Hero DMC Heart Institute in association with International Faculty from different parts of USA which includes Dr.Anil Kumar Mehra, (Keck School of medicine , Los Angeles, CA), Dr.Sanjay Bindra (Director of cardiac Electrophysiology, regional medical center, San Jose, CA) & Dr. Radha Sarma (Prof. Internal Medicine, College of osteopathic medicine of Pacific, CA). The CME was held especially for the undergraduates & Post Graduate students to provide exposure and better understanding of complexity of disease and their probable approach in field of cardiology.
Dr.G.S Wander (Chief Cardiologist & Co-ordinator) extended warm welcome to the dignitaries and participating delegates present on the occasion. The CME was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Prem Kumar Gupta. Also present on the occasion were Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Medical Supdts. Dr Sandeep Sharma and Dr Ashwani Chaudhary.
In his address, Dr.Bishav Mohan (Assistant Medical Superintendent,HDHI) said that Heart Disease has become a major public health problem and is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in India and other developing nations. The purpose of organising this CME is to update the participating delegates including graduate & Post -graduate students about advancements in the treatment and management of cardiac emergencies.
The CME began with lecture on ‘Basics of electrocardiogram’ by Dr Sanjay Bindra followed by lecture on ‘Interesting Echocardiograms’ by Dr Radha Sarma and ‘Problem oriented learning in cardiology’ by Dr.Anil Kumar Mehra.
Dr G.S Wander , in his lecture, highlighted in the topic of ‘Cardiac Emergencies ’ The topic of CME was to enable the physicians and budding medical graduate and post graduate students for prompt diagnosis and management of cardiac emergencies through problem and case oriented learning – said Dr.G.S Wander.
MCQs, Quiz playing & Question Answer Round was organised by team of doctors including Dr.Shibba , Dr.Rohit Tandon, Dr.Abhishek Goyal & Dr.Bhupinder Singh. Various interactive sessions held where International & National experts shared their experiences to integrate the knowledge in the Quest for Responsible use of Medicines for the benefit of delegates, under graduate as well as post graduate students.
