Ludhiana: Laborers and daily wagers are caught off-guard by the COVID crisis. A small number of laborers are working trying to earn a living through whatever work they can find.  One of such is a 22-year-old gentleman from VPO Kotkapura, Faridkot who was working on a wood cutting machine when his hand got accidentally cut in two halves on 19th April, 2020 at 6:15 p.m.
Patient had lost significant amount of blood post the accident and was disheartened by refusal for surgery by other hospitals due to the severe crush injury. As a last hope they landed in Christian Medical College & Hospital at 10:30 p.m. on 19th April, 2020.
CMCH Plastic Surgeons under the headship of Dr. Prof. A. Jayanthi Mala took over the challenge along with her team of surgeons consisting of Dr. Jedidiah Solomon, Dr. Ankur Bhatia, Dr. Rahul Jain and Dr. Eldo George. The surgery lasted 8 hours. It has been 48 Hours since the surgery, the patient is stable and blood supply to the hand is good.
Relatives of the patient are very happy and content with the surgery and prompt services of the hospital.
