Sursingh (TarnTaran), January 28, 2014: In order to pay befitting tributes to the great spiritual and religious personality Sant Baba Daya Singh, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today announced that the state government would soon construct a state-of-the art College here in his fond remembrance to perpetuate Baba ji’s legacy in every nook and corner of the state.  

Paying homage to Sant Baba Daya Singh, the 11th successor of great lineage of religious leader Baba Bidhi Chand, on his Bhog and antim ardaas here, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, said that the upcoming college would be a befitting tribute to this great religious leader, who rendered selfless service to the masses. He said that the state government would bear the entire cost of the construction of this ultra modern college to impart education to the students in this far flung area. Badal said that opening of the college was a long pending demand of the residents of the area as it would open new vistas of excellence for the younger generations.

Paying glorious tributes to Baba Daya Singh, the Chief Minister said that it was a huge personal loss for him as he often used to take the advice of Sant Ji on vital issues concerning the state. Badal said that he hardly had any words to condole the death of this great humanitarian religious leader. He said that with the death of Sant Baba Daya Singh Ji a void had been created in the religious fraternity, which could not be filled in the near future.

Recalling the services rendered by Sant Baba Daya Singh, the Chief Minister said that the state and panth would ever remain indebted to him for the selfless services rendered by him for the well being of the public especially in the Majha region. He also said that Sant Baba Daya Singh had always stood behind the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in every thick and thin adding that Baba Ji actively took part in various morchas lodged by the party. Badal also lauded the role played by Sant Ji in propagating religious education and martial arts amongst his followers.

The Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs 25 lakh for the under construction stadium in the village. He also said that the state government would take every step for propagating the legacy of this great spiritual leader.

In his address the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal while paying tribute to Sant Baba Daya Singh exhorted the people and the Sant Samaj to play a proactive role in curbing the menace of drug addiction in the state. He said that the state government has waged a war against the drugs in the state and more than 20000 drug peddlers have been put behind the bars by the state government. However Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the efforts of the state government would put forth desired results only if the people of state extend fulsome support and cooperation to them for this noble cause.

The Deputy Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs 51 lakh for equipping the village with the ultra modern civic amenities. He said that the state government would make all out efforts to ensure that the world class infra structure was provided to the village where such a great religious leader had disseminated the noble teachings of communal harmony, peace and brotherhood to the masses.

In his address the Revenue, Information & Public Relation Minister Bikram Singh Majithia also lauded Sant Baba Daya Singh for his immense contribution in spreading the message of love and communal harmony amongst the people. Striking an emotional chord with the gathering, Majithia said that he had been visiting this place ever since his childhood adding that he had no words to express the demise of revered Santa Baba Daya Singh. The Minister said that Sant Baba Daya Singh would ever live in the hearts of millions of people who had converged here to pay tribute to him.

Addressing the gathering Cabinet Minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon also recalled the decades long association of his family with this holy place adding that death of Baba Daya Singh Ji was a huge loss to the entire humanity. He described Baba Ji as an oasis of peace, communal harmony and brotherhood besides a fountain heads of spirituality which soothes the hearts of millions of devotees with his holy sermons.

In his address President of SGPC Jathedar Avtar Singh also paid floral tributes to Sant Baba Daya Singh.
