CJI Justice Suryakant expresses his emotional connection with the Rohtak Bar Association

The Chief Justice of India, Justice Suryakant, said that Rohtak has been a place of inspiration for him. The Rohtak Bar Association has contributed to strengthening the legal ideology in the country. He urged the Bar and Bench to maintain public faith in the justice system. Keeping future needs in mind, the government and Bar should also consider establishing an integrated court complex. He said that the new building for the Supreme Court of India is being constructed in three phases, after which this court complex will be sufficient for the next 50 years.

CJI Justice Suryakant expresses his emotional connection with the Rohtak Bar Association

Rohtak, February 14, 2026:  The Chief Justice of India, Justice Suryakant, said that Rohtak has been a place of inspiration for him. The Rohtak Bar Association has contributed to strengthening the legal ideology in the country. He urged the Bar and Bench to maintain public faith in the justice system. Keeping future needs in mind, the government and Bar should also consider establishing an integrated court complex. He said that the new building for the Supreme Court of India is being constructed in three phases, after which this court complex will be sufficient for the next 50 years.

CJI Justice Suryakant was addressing judicial officers and advocates as the chief guest at a felicitation ceremony organized by the District Bar Association in honor of the Chief Justice of India at the local judicial complex. He formally inaugurated the program by lighting a lamp.

The CJI said that according to the ancient Indian tradition of "Atithi Devo Bhava," a guest is considered divine. He said that the lawyer within him has always been alive, no matter what position he holds. He has a deep emotional connection with the Rohtak Bar and was looking forward to this visit. The Rohtak Bar has always stood shoulder to shoulder with him.

CJI Justice Surya Kant said that two important areas in every person's life are the field of work and the field of inspiration. He studied law in Rohtak and drew inspiration from there. He said that he acquired discipline and knowledge of in-depth subjects from the Rohtak Bar, and the Bar has always given him immense love and affection. His swearing-in ceremony was telecast live by the Rohtak Bar, and his birthday was celebrated by cutting a cake at the Rohtak Bar. He remains emotionally connected to the Rohtak Bar.

The Chief Justice said that construction of the new Supreme Court building is underway in three phases. This new building will house 34 new courtrooms, sufficient for the next 50 years. Recently, he had the opportunity to inaugurate an integrated court complex in Uttar Pradesh, where the complex has been designed with the future in mind.

He urged the government and the District Bar Association to consider such a complex. Referring to the Bar Association's demand, he said that the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Chairman of the Building Committee should resolve the Rohtak Bar's problems while adhering to the legal framework.

Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Sheel Nagu, honored senior advocates of the Bar Association. District and Sessions Judge Ajay Tewatia honored the Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, by presenting a turban, the symbol of respect. He presented the Chief Justice with a memento. Administrative Judge of the District and Sessions Division, Vikas Suri, honored the Chief Justice with a robe. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta presented the Chief Justice with a memento on behalf of the district administration. Justice Surya Kant signed a photograph of himself presented to him by the lawyers, which will be placed in the bar room.

The District Bar Association, Rohtak also honored Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Dr. Arvind Sharma, Haryana Cabinet Minister, Justice Harsimran Singh Sethi, Chairman of the Building Committee of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and Justice Vikas Suri, Administrative Judge of the Rohtak District and Sessions Division, with mementos.
