CII Ludhiana Zone organised Workshop on Digital Currency: Technology, Challenges and Opportunities

Ludhiana, December 20, 2023: CII Ludhiana Zone Organised Workshop On Digital Currency:- Technology, Challenges and Opportunities for their members in collaboration with CT University at Avon Cycles Ltd, premises today wherein 35 CII members attended the same. 

In the opening remarks, Rishi Pahwa, Chairman, CII, Ludhiana Zone and JMD Avon Cycles Limited shared that many countries including India are exploring digital currency, and as is known, India has also launched its own retail CBDC on pilot. The RBI foresees e-Rupee issued and regulated by the central bank as the next-generation seamless, ubiquitous and anonymous payment mode that delivers value to customers. In this manner, digital currency, or e-Rupee, will help the government achieve a cashless economy. For the people, a cashless economy means the convenience of digital transactions and freedom from the risk of carrying and storing cash, Mr. Pahwa added.

Dr. Abhishek Tripathi, Pro Vice Chancellor, CT University speaker for the session shared his views on Future of Digital Currency In India and types of CBDC or e-Rupee Issued. He also briefed members on Models for Issuance: Direct/Indirect and various Benefits of CBDC in India. He also emphasised on UPI Versus CBDC and opportunities available after launching of Digital Currency. He answered the queries of the participants well.

It was a fruitful session for one and all that concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. L B Maurya, Panellist, CII Ludhiana also presents a token of gratitude to the guest speaker.
