CICU & WWF-India Hold Consultation on Advancing Cleaner Technologies in Punjab’s Electroplating Sector

The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU), in collaboration with WWF-India, successfully organized an important consultation session on the theme “Advancing Adoption of Cleaner Technologies in the Electroplating Sector of Punjab” at CICU Complex, Ludhiana.

CICU & WWF-India Hold Consultation on Advancing Cleaner Technologies in Punjab’s Electroplating Sector

Ludhiana, May 22, 2026: The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU), in collaboration with WWF-India, successfully organized an important consultation session on the theme “Advancing Adoption of Cleaner Technologies in the Electroplating Sector of Punjab” at CICU Complex, Ludhiana. The consultation witnessed active participation from industry leaders, environmental experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from the electroplating sector.
The session was chaired by, CICU President Upkar Singh Ahuja, Suresh Kumar Retd. IAS Officer and Strategic Advisor, Nitin Kaushal, Director – Rivers and Wetlands WWF-India; Siddhartha Baidya, Associate Director – Water Stewardship, WWF-India; Hemant Juneja, CEO, Oliver McInroy, Er. Sandeep Bahl Chief Environmental Engineer, PPCB, Honey Sethi, General Secretary, CICU.
During the consultation, WWF-India presented its extensive engagement and intervention with the electroplating sector in Moradabad and Ludhiana, highlighting successful models and sustainable approaches adopted for pollution reduction, resource efficiency, and cleaner production technologies.
The session also included insightful case studies from Moradabad, where participating industries shared their experiences, challenges, and success stories in implementing cleaner technologies and environmentally responsible manufacturing practices. These examples served as valuable learning opportunities for Punjab-based electroplating industries.
The consultation further focused on various initiatives being undertaken by the Government of Punjab towards promoting cleaner and sustainable industrial technologies, environmental compliance, and responsible wastewater management within industrial clusters.
Addressing the gathering, CICU President Upkar Singh Ahuja emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable and cleaner technologies for long-term industrial growth, environmental protection, and global competitiveness. He appreciated the efforts of WWF-India in creating awareness and facilitating meaningful dialogue between industries and environmental stakeholders.
At the conclusion of the session Dr. S B Singh, Joint Secretary, CICU, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks and highly appreciated the noble initiative undertaken by WWF-India. He assured that CICU would extend full support and cooperation towards promoting cleaner technologies and sustainable industrial practices across Punjab’s industrial sector.
The consultation marked an important step towards strengthening collaboration between industry and environmental organizations for creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable industrial ecosystem in Punjab.
