CICU Signs MoU with SCD Government College for Boys, Ludhiana

Ludhiana, October 31, 2017: Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings & SCD Government College for Boys on 30th October 2017 for Furthering Collaboration Opportunities in Skills Development Activities.

The MoU was signed by Sh.Upkar Singh Ahuja, President CICU and Dr. Dharam Singh Sandhu, Principal SCD Government College for Boys Ludhiana.

The objective of this MoU is to Bridge the Gap between Academia & Industry by collaboration in the of specified areas like sustainable practices in vocational education and training, CICU and SCD Govt. College for Boys will promote business acumen and entrepreneurship, use their expertise regarding best-practices in training, entrepreneurship and skills development to facilitate the above points, to contribute towards skill development, program by providing available land, building, premises and infrastructure etc for the purpose of implementation of Skill Development Project, as well as Entrepreneurship, Support & Encouragement in relevant schemes in the sectors such as Apparel, BFSI, IT-ITES, Logistics, Retail, Telecom and any other Sector depending upon the requirement. Both parties will also work for suitable interventions for capacity building of state level mechanisms to deliver quality oriented skill promotion services in effective manner.

To full fill this objective CICU has taken an initiative to collaborate and cooperate with Educational Institutes, Colleges and Universities etc. for increasing Industry – Academia – Interactions for benefits of the students of these institutes, by getting industrial training in CICU members units & making education more industry/trade oriented. This will give better exposure to students for industrial application, catering needs of different types of industries/ trade and solving industrial faced challenges to most recent developments for growth of industrial/ trade sectors on long term sustainable basis.

CICU is running a Skill Development Centre since 2012 which is a 4 Star Accredited Centre by Govt. of India and Accredited with Silver Grade by Quality Council of India & National Accreditation Board for Education & Training (NABET) for unemployed and underemployed youth for providing an access for Skill Development Trainings in short term (1-4 months) and flexi hours courses for improving their employability and making them available for proper jobs in industry and trade sectors of Punjab. These courses are run under different Government Schemes like Learn & Earn under Ministry of Minority Affairs (GOI), Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), National Digital Literacy Mission and Skill India Programs for re-enforcement of other National Programs like Make-in-India and Zero Defect & Zero Effect etc.

It will also help the youth to improve their economic condition and keep them away from social evils and drug addiction. After the Skill Development Trainings, they will be available for increasing our productivity as well as ability to adopt in changing industrial environment to face global competition. We need large young population to acquire these vocational skills in India as presently only 10% are getting the skill trainings compared to 60% to 96% in developed countries. After successful training CICU is helping these candidate for suitable jobs in its Member Industries and Trade Sectors in Punjab Region.

President CICU, Sh. Upkar Singh Ahuja said that in the present scenario Skill Trainings are very important for the up-gradation of productivity, quality, cost reduction & improvement of environment for making our industry / trade competitive at National & International levels for sustainable growth.

He is hopeful that this MoU will definitely help in Nation Building.
