CICU Organizes Capacity Building Workshop under RAMP Scheme

Ludhiana, August 10, 2026: The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU), in association with the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), organized a Capacity Building Workshop under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme. The programme witnessed participation from approximately 50 industry representatives and professionals. The workshop was aimed at strengthening the capabilities of MSMEs by providing industry-oriented knowledge, practical insights, and awareness about opportunities available under the RAMP initiative.
As part of the RAMP programme, two workshops were conducted by a by Vishav Bandhu, Ex. Joint Director, who provided valuable insights into the objectives, initiatives and benefits of the RAMP Scheme for MSMEs. He provided the participants with thorough knowledge of new industrial policy 2026. He addressed the challenges faced by MSME’s while availing incentives and approvals.
A technical training session on “Cost & Cycle Time Reduction in CNC Machining” was also conducted by Preetham BM, IMTMA Subject Matter Expert having 28 years of industry experience. The technical session focused on practical aspects of CNC machining, including critical-to-quality tolerances, identifying abnormal situations and their causes, turning and machining centre operations, selection of parameters, tool life, cycle-time optimization, and effective resource utilization.
Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU, said that skill development and technology adoption are critical for enhancing the competitiveness of Punjab’s MSMEs. He emphasized that such capacity-building programmes provide industries with access to expert knowledge and practical solutions that can directly improve productivity, quality and cost efficiency. He appreciated the efforts of Dr. Sanjeev Chaddha (Professor  and head MDC) MGSIPA and his team Mr. Saourav consultant PIU and Ms. Venus Rana , Training Associate MGSIPA and Mr. Sumit for collaborating with CICU and expressed confidence that continued industry-government collaboration would create greater opportunities for MSMEs in Punjab.
Honey Sethi, General Secretary, CICU, said that CICU is committed to continuously creating platforms where MSMEs can learn, upgrade their capabilities and adopt modern manufacturing practices. He highlighted that the combination of the RAMP awareness session and specialized CNC training made the programme particularly relevant for manufacturing industries. The programme concluded with an interactive session, where participants discussed their practical challenges and sought expert guidance on improving manufacturing efficiency, reducing cycle time and enhancing productivity.
