CICU Organises Technical Training on Concentrated Solar Thermal Technology for MSMEs

Ludhiana, August 31, 2026: The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) organised a Technical Training Programme on Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) for Industrial Process Heat in MSMEs, aimed at creating awareness among Ludhiana’s industrial fraternity about clean, cost-effective and sustainable alternatives to conventional fuels.
The programme was organised under the national capacity-building initiative being implemented by UNIDO in partnership with the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MoMSME), Government of India, with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
The training focused on practical aspects of CST technology, including technology selection, site feasibility, economic assessment, funding options, business models and real-world industrial applications. The programme particularly highlighted the potential of solar thermal solutions to reduce dependence on coal, furnace oil, diesel, LPG and other conventional fuels for industrial process heat.
A strong participation from MSME owners, managers, engineers, cluster associations, government officials and academic institutions reflected the growing interest of industry in adopting cleaner technologies.
CICU emphasised that decarbonisation is no longer just an environmental responsibility but also an important business opportunity, offering industries the potential to reduce energy costs while improving sustainability and long-term competitiveness.
CICU reiterated its commitment to continuously bring advanced technologies, expert knowledge and new business opportunities to the industrial community of Ludhiana and Punjab.
