CICU Organises MSME Stakeholder Meeting for Agricultural Implements Industry on World Standards Day 2026

Ludhiana, September 16, 2026: The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU), in association with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Chandigarh Branch Office, organised an important MSME Stakeholder Meeting for the Agricultural Implements Industry at CICU, Ludhiana, on the occasion of World Standards Day 2026.
The meeting, held under the theme “Standards for a Sustainable Future", brought together agricultural implements manufacturers, industry representatives and stakeholders to discuss quality standards and compliance requirements affecting the sector.
Shalu Varshney, Director & Head, BIS Chandigarh Branch Office, delivered an insightful session on relevant Indian Standards, BIS certification, Quality Control Orders (QCOs), technical requirements and testing procedures. Pankaj Jha, Deputy Director, MSME DFO Ludhiana, also addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of quality, standardisation and government support for MSMEs.
Representing CICU, Dr. S.B. Singh, Joint Secretary, CICU, actively participated in the discussions and raised industry-related concerns and suggestions. The interactive session provided manufacturers an opportunity to seek clarification on standards, certification procedures and practical compliance challenges.
CICU appreciated BIS and MSME DFO Ludhiana for engaging directly with the agricultural implements industry and providing a platform for meaningful interaction between government institutions and manufacturers.
Dr. S.B. Singh, Joint Secretary, CICU, said: "Standardisation is not merely a compliance requirement; it is an important tool for improving product quality, strengthening competitiveness and building confidence in Indian manufacturing. Such direct interaction between BIS and MSMEs helps manufacturers understand requirements clearly and adopt standards in a practical manner."
