CICU Organised Technical Meet on New Technologies and Cost-Saving Opportunities in Water Treatment, Wastewater Management, ETP & ZLD Systems in association with FICCI

Ludhiana, July 2, 2026: The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU), in association with FICCI, successfully organised a Technical Meet on "New Technologies and Cost-Saving Opportunities in Water Treatment, Wastewater Management, ETP & ZLD Systems" at the Muni Lal Dharam Lal Jain Board Room, CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of more than 130 industrialists, environmental professionals, plant heads, ETP operators and representatives from various manufacturing sectors, reflecting the growing interest of industry in sustainable and cost-effective environmental solutions. The programme commenced with the welcome address by Sh. Surender Kumar Verma, Additional Director, FICCI, who welcomed the distinguished guests and participants. He highlighted the need for collaborative efforts between industry, regulatory authorities and technology providers to promote sustainable industrial growth. He stated that adopting innovative water treatment and wastewater management technologies is essential for enhancing industrial competitiveness while ensuring environmental responsibility.
Addressing the gathering, J.S. Bhogal, Senior Vice President, CICU, said that environmental sustainability has become an integral part of business growth. He remarked, "Industries today are expected to achieve both economic efficiency and environmental compliance. Modern water treatment and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technologies not only help industries meet regulatory requirements but also generate significant savings through water reuse, lower operating costs and improved resource management. Continuous awareness and knowledge-sharing initiatives are the need of the hour to prepare industries for future challenges."
Honey Sethi, General Secretary, CICU, emphasised that industries must look at environmental technologies as long-term investments rather than compliance expenses. He said that advanced wastewater treatment systems, digital monitoring and efficient ETP operations enable industries to reduce costs, improve productivity and strengthen their reputation in global markets. He encouraged industrial units to regularly upgrade their environmental infrastructure to remain future-ready.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Er. Raj Kumar Ratra, Chief Environmental Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), whose vast experience and practical knowledge greatly benefited the participants. During his address, Er. Ratra explained the latest environmental regulations, the importance of efficient wastewater management, Zero Liquid Discharge systems, and the adoption of advanced pollution control technologies. He also guided industries on achieving sustainable operations while maintaining regulatory compliance. His practical examples, technical expertise and interactive approach made the session highly informative, and participants appreciated the valuable insights shared by him.
The Guest of Honour, Er. Kuldeep Singh, Senior Environmental Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), also addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of adopting efficient pollution control systems and maintaining environmental standards through continuous technological upgradation. He encouraged industries to proactively implement innovative solutions that reduce environmental impact while improving operational efficiency.
The technical experts delivered detailed presentations on the latest regulatory framework, innovative wastewater treatment technologies, air pollution control systems, digital monitoring, water neutrality certification, water auditing and smart solutions for improving ETP and ZLD performance. The sessions generated lively interaction, with participants discussing practical challenges and seeking expert guidance for implementation in their respective industrial units. The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session followed by networking over high tea. Participants appreciated the initiative taken by CICU and FICCI in bringing together industry leaders, environmental experts and regulatory authorities on one platform to discuss practical, sustainable and cost-effective solutions for the manufacturing sector.
