CICU Opens New Business Opportunities for Ludhiana Industry through Business Dialogue with Portugal

Ludhiana, September 23, 2026: The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana, organised a Business Dialogue with Portugal at the CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana, providing local industry with a valuable platform to explore opportunities in trade, investment, exports and business collaboration with Portugal.
The programme was organised in association with the Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency (AICEP) and witnessed participation from industrialists and business representatives keen to understand the Portuguese market and avenues for international expansion.
The session was addressed by Miguel CM Crespo, CFA, Economic and Trade Counsellor to India, Embassy of Portugal and Ms. Deeksha Chawla, Senior Trade & Investment Officer, Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency (AICEP), New Delhi. The speakers shared insights into Portugal’s business environment, trade opportunities, investment ecosystem and potential areas of cooperation between Portuguese and Indian enterprises.
The session was moderated by Dr. S.B. Singh, Joint Secretary, CICU, who facilitated an interactive discussion between the visiting delegation and CICU members.
A detailed business presentation was delivered by J.S. Bhogal, Sr. Vice President, CICU, highlighting the strengths of Punjab’s industrial sector and the potential for expanding international business linkages. Discussions also focused on how MSMEs can explore new markets, establish business partnerships and strengthen their global presence through structured trade and investment engagement.
Honey Sethi, General Secretary, CICU, delivered the closing remarks and emphasised the importance of connecting Punjab’s manufacturing base with international markets. He said that such interactions provide industries with direct access to overseas institutions and help MSMEs understand practical opportunities beyond traditional markets.
CICU Sr. Vice President J.S. Bhogal said, “Punjab has a strong manufacturing base and a large pool of capable MSMEs. Our objective is to connect this industrial strength with new international markets. Portugal can provide an important platform for Indian businesses to explore trade, investment and strategic business partnerships. CICU will continue to create such direct business-to-business opportunities so that our industries can expand their global footprint.”
The programme marked another step by CICU towards facilitating international trade linkages for Punjab’s MSMEs and encouraging industry to explore new export destinations and overseas business partnerships.
