CICU Indoor Games Day 2026 Begins with Enthusiasm; Table Tennis Competitions Witness Exciting Participation on Day 1
The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) commenced its much-awaited Indoor Games Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit at the CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana. The two-day sporting initiative is aimed at promoting fitness, teamwork, camaraderie and a healthy work-life balance among members of the industrial community.
Ludhiana, August 8, 2026: The Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) commenced its much-awaited Indoor Games Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit at the CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana. The two-day sporting initiative is aimed at promoting fitness, teamwork, camaraderie and a healthy work-life balance among members of the industrial community.
The Day-1 proceedings featured Table Tennis competitions, witnessing enthusiastic participation from young players, industrialists, professionals, employees and members of the CICU fraternity. The matches reflected a high level of sporting spirit, competitive enthusiasm and discipline among the participants. The event was formally inaugurated in the presence of Sachit Jain, CMD, Vardhman Special Steels Ltd., who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His presence and encouragement added significance to the sporting initiative and motivated the participants. The programme was led by Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU, along with Honey Sethi, General Secretary, and office bearers including Gautam Malhotra, Vice President, Ajay Bharti, Finance Secretary, and Sanjay Dhiman.
Speaking on the occasion, Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU, said that Indoor Games Day is an initiative to bring members of the industrial community together beyond their professional responsibilities. He emphasized that sports promote discipline, teamwork, healthy competition, leadership and stronger interpersonal relationships, which are essential for building a vibrant and progressive industrial ecosystem.
Exciting Table Tennis Competitions on Day 1
The Table Tennis competitions were organized across various age groups and categories, including Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19, Men, Women and senior categories.
The Under-17 Boys category witnessed a closely contested competition, with Aadav Thapar securing the Gold medal, followed by Abhijit with Silver. Gavish and Aryan Arora jointly secured the Bronze medals. In the Under-19 Boys category, Aryan Sachdeva won the Gold medal, while Vihan Verma secured Silver. Shivansh and Gavish jointly bagged the Bronze medals.
CICU congratulated all the winners and participants for their excellent performance and sporting spirit and wished them continued success in their sporting journey.
CICU also placed on record its special appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Ashwani Goyal and his entire team for their valuable efforts, coordination and support in organizing the sporting activities smoothly. The dedicated efforts of the organizing team helped create a vibrant, disciplined and well-managed environment for participants, ensuring enthusiastic participation throughout the day.
Speaking on the occasion, Gursimar Somal, Managing Director, Somal Refractories, appreciated the initiative and said that the enthusiastic response on the first day reflected the strong spirit of the CICU fraternity towards sports and community-building activities. He expressed hope that the remaining competitions would witness equally energetic participation.
The Indoor Games Day 2026 will continue with further sporting activities, bringing together members of the industrial community in the spirit of “Challenge Yourself, Build Team Spirit & Celebrate Excellence.” CICU thanked the Chief Guest, sponsors, participants, members, organizers and volunteers for contributing to the success of Day 1 and making it a memorable celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork and togetherness.
