As part of the 68th National Productivity Week celebrations, an awareness session on “Cost Saving Through Productivity Improvement” was organised at the Muni Lal Dharm Pal Jain Board Room, CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana. The programme was conducted by National Productivity Council under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, in association with Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, February 17, 2026: As part of the 68th National Productivity Week celebrations, an awareness session on “Cost Saving Through Productivity Improvement” was organised at the Muni Lal Dharm Pal Jain Board Room, CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana. The programme was conducted by National Productivity Council under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, in association with Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings, Ludhiana.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from industrialists, MSME representatives, plant heads and production managers from across Ludhiana and nearby industrial clusters. The objective of the programme was to sensitise industries on improving operational efficiency, minimising waste and enhancing competitiveness through systematic productivity practices.
Industry expert Dr. S B Singh delivered a detailed technical presentation highlighting practical methods of reducing production costs without compromising quality. He explained how scientific workflow design, lean manufacturing, energy optimisation and effective manpower utilisation can significantly improve profitability. Through case studies and real-time industrial examples, he demonstrated that productivity enhancement is not merely a cost-cutting exercise but a strategic tool for sustainable growth.
During the interaction session, participants discussed challenges such as rising input costs, energy expenses and global competition. Experts emphasised that adoption of modern productivity tools, digital monitoring and process standardisation can help MSMEs remain competitive in domestic as well as export markets.
Representatives of the organising bodies stated that National Productivity Week aims to promote a culture of efficiency and innovation among industries. They added that improving productivity directly contributes to national economic growth, employment generation and global competitiveness of Indian manufacturing.
The programme concluded with a question-answer session and an appeal to industry members to regularly adopt productivity assessment audits and continuous improvement practices. Participants appreciated the initiative and described the session as highly informative and practical for implementation at the shop-floor level.
