Ludhiana, November 18, 2023: CICU held an interactive meeting with Department of Industries & Commerce, wherein  D.P.S Kharbanda, CEO, invest Punjab, presided as the chief guest and interacted with the CICU member industries and industrial associations.

Upkar Singh Ahuja president of CICU, in his opening remarks raised multiple issues being faced by Ludhiana industry. He also raised the issue of airport at Ludhiana, Municipal Corporation, approval of building plans, upgradation of R & D center of auto industry, carbon foot print, and one time settlement in PSIEC. Ahuja also insisted on having a state export policy for Punjab.

Representative from various associations were also present during the meeting and raised the important and un-addressed issues like- technical issues with applying for subsidies through invest Punjab, portal.

Harsimerjit Singh, President - UCPMA said that invest Punjab department is doing good job to attract investment. But infrastructure provided is making investors nervous while taking decisions on investment in state. He highlighted about the poor road conditions.
Charanjit Singh Vishwakarama, IMC Member spoke about the GST rates.

Mridula Jain from Shawls Club (India) spoke about the high charges on ground water extraction by industry.

Also, the industry representatives raised the concern about making Ludhiana an IT hub in Punjab. Among other issues seaport, quality of power in terms of voltage fluctuation, Minimum charges to exempt full day power off were also raised.

Kharbanda assured the industry to do his best and address all the important issues on priority. Also, he assured to form Punjab state export committee. New investor applications to be cleared as early as possible, all the GST refund should be cleared on priority, building plan portfolio implemented, teaching hub will be started in 4 districts in Punjab (Moga, Patiala, Mohali, and in Jalandhar for leather industry. Regular cleaning in focal point and green belt made in focal point in 15 days. 35 crores issued to R&D Centre for Bicycle & Sewing machine, Ludhiana. Two export policy and one IT policy to be implemented soon and also advised the industry to share any vacant land details on invest Punjab portal so that can be used for industrial purpose. All the PSIES related issue should be cleared soon. For MSME industries a fund request of Rs. 658 crores already given to Indian Government, also, common facility center for industry to set up.

Event with a gathering of around 200 people, proved to be truly wonderful offerings profound insights into the government strategic planning for industry. Overall the event was remarkable opportunity to take up industrial concerns with the D.P.S Kharbanda.
