Chugh flags Punjab’s law and order and Golden Temple security with Union Home ministry
Border state on verge of collapse : Chugh

New Delhi/Chandigarh, 25 July 2025: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today met Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay and held a detailed discussion on the worsening law and order situation in Punjab saying that anti-national and unscrupulous elements have been having a field day in Punjab and the Bhagwant Mann government has completely failed to control it.
Being a border state, Chugh said, Punjab needed intense watch of disruptive and criminal elements and underlined that the law and order in Punjab has completely collapsed. The Home Department is directly under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, yet there is no accountability or visible action. “Every day brings disturbing reports of thefts, gang wars, and organised crime. Mafias are thriving, and jails have turned into production studios,” he remarked.
The two leaders also held a focused discussion on the security of Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. Referring to recent intelligence inputs and provocative activity on social media, Chugh flagged serious concerns. In response, Minister Bandi Sanjay assured him that the safety and sanctity of Darbar Sahib remains one of the Modi government’s highest priorities, and that no threat to it would be allowed to go unchecked.
Chugh emphasised that the Punjab government must take responsibility and stop viewing the Centre’s support through a political lens.
The Union Minister assured the Centre’s full commitment to assisting Punjab, particularly in combating drug abuse and improving the law and order situation across the state.
