Chugh becomes Rajya Sabha MP, takes oath in mother tongue Punjabi

Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today took oath as a Member of the Rajya Sabha in the Rajya Sabha Chamber at Parliament House. On this solemn occasion, Tarun Chugh took the oath in the name of God, reaffirming his true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India and his commitment to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

New Delhi/Chandigarh, June 29, 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today took oath as a Member of the Rajya Sabha in the Rajya Sabha Chamber at Parliament House. On this solemn occasion, Tarun Chugh took the oath in the name of God, reaffirming his true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India and his commitment to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

Taking his oath in his mother tongue Punjabi, Tarun Chugh paid tribute to Punjab's rich language, culture and identity. On the occasion, he said that he would serve as the voice of 3 crore Punjabis in the Rajya Sabha and would strongly advocate for their interests, aspirations and self respect. He said that the soil of Punjab and the love of its people were his greatest strength.

Tarun Chugh said that he would raise in Parliament, with full force, the pressing issues directly linked to Punjab's future. These include Punjab's drug menace, empowerment of the state's farmers, revival of Punjab's industries, elimination of gangsterism, extortion, grenade and gun culture, empowerment of women from families affected by drugs and unemployment, a Punjab Youth Vision centred on employment, startups, sports and a drug free future, resolution of the problems faced by traders, and the state's rapidly declining groundwater level.

He said that as a Member of Parliament, every effort of his would be devoted to the holistic development of Punjab and to connecting the state with the mainstream of Viksit Bharat 2047. Tarun Chugh assured that he would discharge every responsibility entrusted to him with complete honesty and dedication, and would work tirelessly for the welfare of every citizen of Punjab.

On the occasion, Tarun Chugh expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President Nitin Nabin for entrusting him with this important opportunity to serve the nation and Punjab. He said he would live up to the faith reposed in him by the party leadership with complete commitment.
