Charas Worth Lakhs Seized Near Nagabari Toll Plaza; Punjab Man Arrested by Nurpur CIA Team
Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, the CIA team of the Nurpur Police District arrested a Punjab resident and seized 2.532 kg of charas from his possession near the Nagabari Toll Plaza in Kangra district.

Dharamshala, July 5, 2026: Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, the CIA team of the Nurpur Police District arrested a Punjab resident and seized 2.532 kg of charas from his possession near the Nagabari Toll Plaza in Kangra district.
According to Ilma Afroz, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Nurpur Police District, the CIA team was conducting routine patrolling and vehicle checking near the Nagabari Toll Plaza when officers noticed a suspicious Hero Splendor motorcycle. The rider was stopped for inspection, and during a search, police recovered 2.532 kg of charas concealed in his possession.
The accused has been identified as Ashwani Kumar (33), a resident of Ravidas Mohalla, Narot Mehra, Tehsil and District Pathankot, Punjab. The police immediately seized the contraband along with the motorcycle and arrested the accused at the spot.
A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is in progress to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify any possible links to a wider drug trafficking network.
