Jalandhar, August 18, 2026: Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C, Central Command and Colonel of the Punjab Regiment, ceremonially handed over the Baton of 'Colonel of the Regiment' to Lt Gen Vijay B Nair, Comdt, The Infantry School, Mhow, at a solemn and momentous ceremony held at the Punjab Regimental Centre on 18 August 2026.
During his tenure, Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta spearheaded several significant initiatives aimed at strengthening the operational and training capabilities of the Punjab Regiment. These included the raising of Bhairav Battalion and the enhancement of major training infrastructure at the Regimental Centre to cater for Agniveer Training.
The Baton, a symbol of honour, responsibility and regimental pride, represents the enduring bond between the Regiment's distinguished past and its promising future. It embodies the cherished traditions, values and ethos that have shaped the Punjab Regiment over the years.
