Chandigarh News/Patil ask officers to utilize 100% budget

Chandigarh, November 19, 2013:  Reviewing the progress of various ongoing projects of Union Territory of Chandigarh in a high level meeting attended by Secretaries and Head of Departments, held today at Punjab Raj Bhavan, the Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shivraj V. Patil       said that a few departments need to speed up the utilization of funds placed at their disposal so that the money given by the Government of India, for development works is fully utilized in time. He asked all the concerned officers to ensure 100% utilization of budget allotted to their respective departments in a stipulated time. He said that he would be happy if the departments would demand extra-funds to provide better facilities to the citizens of City Beautiful, Chandigarh.

While reviewing the progress of the departments with respect to their ongoing schemes, Patil made special observations to speed up the work on computerization to be done in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Taking serious note of the delay in the construction of the much-awaited project of the underpasses of the Chandigarh Administration, the Administrator gave direction to concerned officers to transfer the underpass project to Municipal Corporation. The Administrator gave directions to increase the fleet of buses running on the local routes, in order to increase the frequency of buses for the city residents.

The Administrator laid a special emphasis on strict implementation of the provision of Food Security Act as regards the supply of ration to all those eligible. The Scheme of starting a trauma center in the City was also discussed at length and directions were given to the officers for early implementation.

Patil stressed upon chalking out a comprehensive plan to provide infrastructure to all educational institutions to strengthen their libraries with audio-visual facilities and also to organize Science exhibition in the City with focus on electronic advancements.

Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Satya Gopal, Chairman Chandigarh Housing Board, V.K. Singh, Finance Secretary, Mohd. Shyian, Deputy Commissioner, Rajinder Uppadhya,  IGP, Naunihal Singh, SSP and Mrs. Prerna Puri, Secretary IT.
