CGC University Mohali Celebrates ‘Dheeyan Di Lohri’ with Fervour
Spreads Message of Social Equality and Empowerment
Mohali, January 12, 2026: ‘Dheeyan Di Lohri’ was celebrated with great enthusiasm and meaningful purpose at CGC University, Mohali. The event was specially dedicated to honouring daughters and promoting equality, respect, and social responsibility. The perfect blend of Punjabi cultural traditions and modern progressive thoughts made the day memorable for students and staff alike.
The celebration was graced by Dr. Jagvinder Singh Virk and Dr. Rattandeep Kaur Virk from Australia, who attended as Chief Guests. Their presence added a global perspective and reinforced the universal message of daughter empowerment. Students showcased vibrant folk dances, songs, and various cultural performances on campus. Adding a humanitarian touch, a donation drive was organised in association with ‘The Great Navbharat Mission Foundation,’ extending financial assistance to families from adopted villages who were celebrating the first Lohri of their newborn daughters.
On this occasion, the university also conferred the ‘Long Association Award’ upon dedicated faculty and staff members for their years of unwavering service. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, Founder Chancellor and Father of Education, stated that Dheeyan Di Lohri is not just a festival, it is a reminder of our responsibility to nurture and empower our daughters.” Managing Director Arsh Dhaliwal added that celebrations at CGC aim to bring positive change to society. The event concluded with a traditional Lohri bonfire, symbolising togetherness and hope.
