Landran, won the Gold Medal in the 66kg category of the National Junior Powerlifting Championship held in Alappuzha, Kerala.
Jalandhar, April 28, 2022: Sanjay Shahi, a fourth year student of tourism and travel management course (BTTM), at Chandigarh group of Colleges (CGC) Landran, won the Gold Medal in the 66kg category of the National Junior Powerlifting Championship held in Alappuzha, Kerala. Competing in the Squat (190 Kg), Bench Press (130 kg) and Dead Lift (227.5 Kg) categories, Sanjay amassed a total weight of 547.5 kg emerging the winner in his category, competing against forty-plus participants from states across India. “It is a matter of pride for me to have represented my college and Punjab at the national level. I express my gratitude to my family for supporting me throughout and to CGC Landran for providing me with state-of-the-art equipment, training and mentorship that were crucial to prepare for these Championships”, said Sanjay.

Hailing from Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab, Sanjay has been actively participating in sports since his school days. He has been representing CGC in various championships bringing laurels to the college each time. Sanjay won Gold in the 66Kg category, in the National Sub Junior and Junior Powerlifting Championship held in Udaipur, in January 2022. He bagged another Gold medal in the North Indian Powerlifting Championship, held in Faridabad, Haryana in March 2022. In November 2021, Sanjay clinched a silver medal in the National Classic Bench Press Championship, held at Goa. 

Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran congratulated Sanjay and lauded his achievement which they said, would inspire his fellow students at the institution.
