CGC Jhanjeri students excel in PTU inter- college competition in badminton & chess

Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri students brought laurels to the college in sports by winning PTU’s Inter College Badminton Tournament for women & men. The boys also have proved to be equally competent by winning 2nd runners up position. 14 girls team & 18 Boys teams participated in this Tournament held at DAVIET, Jalandhar Students of CGC Jhanjeri also excelled in PTU’s Inter College Chess Tournament. 1st Runners-up ,2nd runner up position was captured by Jhanjeri campus .As many as 20 teams from various colleges participated in this Tournament. In the first round of Badminton Tournament CGC Jhanjeri girls made a clean sweep by beating SHMIT Goraya College by 3-0. In 2nd match CGC jhanjeri girls V/S BBSBEC Fatehgarh SahibCGC Jhanjeri girls BBSBEC Fatehgarh Sahib College by 3-0. CGC Jhanjeri won semifinal match by defeating CEC Landran by 3-0. The final match was played by them against the IET Bahaddal, which CGC Jhanjeri girls won by 2-1. With this CGC Jhanjeri won the prestigious trophy for the year. In the first round of Badminton Tournament of boys CGC Jhanjeri defeated Global Amritsar College by 3-0 and CTIMIT Shapur again by 3-0.After this all the league matches were the Played between all the semi-finalist teams. In first lst and 2nd matches CGC jhanjeri last to GNDEC ludhiana but 3rd match CGC Jhanjeri beat DAVIET Jalandhar by 3-2set thus CGC Jhanjeri boys team won 2nd runnersup position for 2019-20. In addition to this honour, Three boys Piyush Ghavri, Jogeshwar Sharma and Magandeep singh and two girls Shikha Sharma and Abhima Sharma are selected in PTU’s Badminton Team for playing Inter University Tournaments.
