Ludhiana, December 2, 2018: Punjab unaided colleges Association (PUCA) urged centre government to release pending 1700 Crore of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for SC/ST students to Punjab at the earliest.

Dr.Anshu Kataria, President, PUCA said that Punjab Government has already released a major part of 323 crore which was further disbursed by Centre to Punjab and some part of the pending payment is also being released in this month to the Colleges. But still an amount of Rs 1700 Crore is pending for SC/ST Students of Punjab for the Year 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 towards the Centre Government.

Finance Secretary, PUCA, CA Manmohan Garg said that Unaided Colleges of Punjab are under heavy financial crunch due to the nonpayment of funds from the Government. He said that due to non payment, salaries of last 4-5 months of teaching and non teaching staff members in some unaided colleges have also not been paid.

Kataria further urged State Government to immediately notify the revised fees structure to Self Financed Colleges for the courses like B.Ed, ETT, LLB, ITI, BA, B.Com etc. He also said that the colleges should get the scholarship amount of the duration for which the student has studied in any College.
