Ludhiana, March 25, 2015: Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in India, Vijay Sampla has said that the centre government is committed to overall development of all states of the country. He said that this could be known from the fact that the centre government has increased financial assistance to states by almost 10 percent in the union budget. He said that this while speaking to media persons while attending the Annual Prize Distribution function at Arya College for Boys, here today. Sampla was the chief guest on the occasion.
While speaking to media persons, Sampla said that the BJP led NDA government is committed for overall development of all states of India. He said that during the union budget 2015-16, the financial assistance from earlier 32% to 42%. He said that Punjab has gained by almost Rs 3,000 crore from this union budget.
He said that it is for the first time that the centre government has brought Punjab state under the Aadarsh Gram Yojana. He said that under this Yojana, a financial assistance of Rs 17.58 crore has been released for the development of 100 villages of the state. He said that under this Yojana, the centre government would spend an amount of Rs 20 lakh each for the development of each village. He said that if the state government also contributes Rs 20 lakh for the development of these villages, the centre government would sanction an extra grant of Rs 5 lakh.
He said that the Land Acquisition Bill presented by the centre government is in the interest of the farmers and is very important for our society';s development. He said that some political parties are opposing it for the sake of opposition.
On the occasion, Sampla presented roll of honour to two students, college colour to 11 students, and other awards and certificates to 425 students.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included vice chairman, Punjab State Planning Board Rajinder Bhandari, Principal R C Tejpal, Prem Bharadwaj, former minister Satpal Gosain, BJP district president Parveen Bansal, besides several others.
