Central University of Punjab Organizes Workshop on AI Tools for Teaching-Learning

Bathinda, August 7, 2026: The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab), organized a one-day workshop on "AI Tools for Teaching-Learning Process" to familiarize faculty members with the effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching, learning, research, and assessment. The workshop covered the fundamentals of AI, Generative AI, prompt engineering, and the ethical use of AI. Through expert sessions and live demonstrations, participants learned how AI can support lesson planning, content creation, academic writing, literature review, classroom assessment, and research while emphasizing the need to verify AI-generated content before its academic use.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Director, IQAC, Prof. Monisha Dhiman, who emphasized the need to responsibly integrate Artificial Intelligence into higher education to enhance academic quality and innovation. In his presidential address, Prof. Ramakrishna Wusirika, Acting Vice-Chancellor, highlighted the transformative potential of AI in teaching, learning, and research, and encouraged faculty members to leverage AI tools responsibly to foster academic excellence and innovation.
Speaking during the workshop, Dr. Pany said that AI can support teachers in self-assessment, curriculum planning, lesson design, and monitoring students' learning progress. He emphasized that AI is not a substitute for teachers but a tool that can enhance teaching effectiveness and enable educators to devote more time to meaningful student engagement.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Shamsher Singh Dhillon highlighted the importance of the 5Cs of 21st-century education—communication, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and character—as envisioned under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He urged faculty members to inculcate these competencies in students and encouraged them to make the 5Cs an integral part of their own personality and teaching practice.
Faculty members explored MagicSchool AI and other AI-powered tools for lesson planning, assessment, rubrics, quizzes, and academic productivity. A hands-on session enabled participants to create lecture plans, presentations, and Bloom's Taxonomy-based question papers using AI. The workshop concluded with a discussion on the ethical and responsible use of AI in higher education, followed by a vote of thanks by Prof. Yogalakshmi.
