Central Government stands firmly with Punjab’s farmers: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Amritsar/Gurdaspur/Dera Baba Nanak, September 4, 2025: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today visited the bordering areas of Punjab, touring the flood-hit villages of Ajnala in Amritsar, Dera Baba Nanak  and Gurdaspur district. He was accompanied by BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh.

Chouhan himself entered submerged fields to assess crop damage, interacted with distressed farmers, and assured them that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre stands shoulder to shoulder with every affected family. He said that the pain of Punjab’s farmers is his own, and the Union Government will extend full support in this crisis.

The Minister noted that two high-level Central teams—comprising senior officials from agriculture, rural development, energy, finance, road, and Jal Shakti departments—are already in Punjab to conduct on-ground assessments. Their reports will form the basis for swift relief and rehabilitation measures.

Tarun Chugh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for immediately deputing two Central teams to Punjab for flood assessment. He also expressed gratitude to Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for personally leading the inspection on the ground and listening to farmers’ concerns. Chugh said that Prime Minister Modi has always ensured every possible relief for Punjab in difficult times, which reflects the true spirit of New India.
