Ludhiana, April 16, 2026: A three-day training program for enumerators and supervisors at the charge level has commenced in the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana on Thursday.
The training is being conducted by field trainers, who have themselves been trained by master trainers.
Across the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, training is being held at 24 venues like DCM Precedency School, UPSC Jain School etc. In these 24 classes, a total of 1,200 participants are undergoing training in the first batch. Approximately 90 batches will be conducted in total in Municipal Corporation Ludhiana.
The charge officers of the census charges are actively involved in the training and are personally visiting the venues where the sessions are being held. 
They highlight the digital tools like House Listing Operation (HLO) app to be used by the Enumerators in field during the HLO operation in the Punjab State being conducted during 15th May to 13th June, before HLO citizens can enrol themselves on Self Enumeration portal.
While interacting with the Principal Census Officer for Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, Neeru Gupta, IAS, and City Census Officer Vineet Kumar, PCS, it was stated that show-cause notices will be issued to staff members who do not attend the training.
Strict action under Section 11 of the Census Act 1948 including disciplinary proceedings under Service Rules will be initiated against those who fail to join. It was also directed by Municipal Commissioner that No Charge Officer or any other officer will exempt any duty at their own level without knowledge the Principal Census Officer.
