Census 2027: ADC (G) Poonam Singh participates in Census 2027 self-enumeration initiative, completes self-enumeration

Ludhiana, May 2, 2026: Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Poonam Singh on Saturday completed her self-enumeration by submitting details through the official portal se.census.gov.in.
Encouraging residents to take part in the initiative, Singh highlighted that the self-enumeration process allows citizens to conveniently submit their household information online using a mobile number and OTP verification. She described the process as simple, secure, and user-friendly, enabling people to complete it from the comfort of their homes without waiting for an enumerator.
ADC appealed to residents to actively participate and spread awareness about the initiative among their families and communities through social media and local networks. She emphasized that accurate census data is crucial for effective planning in key sectors such as housing, water supply, sanitation, education, healthcare, and employment.
Among those present on the occasion were Deputy Director (Directorate of Census Operations, Punjab, Chandigarh) Dr Ruchi Gupta, Assistant Director Renu, and Statistical Investigator Alok Kumar, along with other officials.
Under this phase, residents are required to provide detailed information about their households and family members, including responses to House Listing Operations (HLO) questions. These cover aspects such as the type of house, availability of amenities, assets, and basic facilities—data that plays a vital role in shaping development policies and welfare schemes.
The process involves user registration, OTP verification, filling in the required details, and final submission. Upon completion, a unique Self-Enumeration ID is generated. Authorities have assured that all information submitted will remain strictly confidential and will be used solely for planning and policy-making purposes.
For households unable to complete the process online, enumerators will visit during the field operation phase to collect the necessary information.
