Celebratory success of Annual Design Collection and Trunk Display Show, Shears and Ruban 2022

Chandigarh, June 11, 2022: The University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development, Panjab University, Chandigarh witnessed a celebratory success of its Annual Design Collection and Trunk Display Show, Shears and Ruban 2022, displaying the B.Sc. semester 6th Annual Design Collection. The cheers from the audience lightened up the spaces of the law auditorium and the thrill boosted the confidence of the young designers. The show co-ordinator Dr. Prabhdip Brar and her team, was thankful to Ms. Shalini Kahlon for her motivating words to steer the energies of the young talent in the right directions, and also to Dr. Deepti Gupta for acknowledging the course of the event with her kind and extremely inspiring words.

The students’ presented their creative ideas through a range of experiments of surface ornamentations, engaging research processes and upcycled resources. Under one of the titles, we have Arushi’s collection inspired by a Sundae ice-cream that plays with the summer colours, purples and pinks, through frills and ruffles. On the other hand, the spectrum of summer colours is expanded to red, yellow and orange by Aditi through her collection themed on the transforming colours of leaves of autumn. The most significant aspect of our awareness towards sustainability and new approaches is experimented by Simran and Malyca, by using natural dyes and by upcycling denim.

The Trunk Display by the students also became a successful highlight for the inquisitive people to have a word with the young designers about their skill and art. A vote of thanks by Dr Rita Kant concluded the show on the note continuing this creative journey of sharing the talent and of working towards a common goal. Dr Anu. H. Gupta congratulated the students and motivated them to take up projects that are sustainable.

The students’ creative potential was applauded with different Awards to help them take the next step in the direction.
