Celebration of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti at boys Hostel No.3

Chandigarh, January 12, 2023: Boys Hostel No 3 organized a Guest Lecture in collaboration with Boys Hostel No. 1 and BH-2, and NSS on account of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti at 11:00 am in the common room of Boys Hostel No. 3. Dr. Sudhir Baweja, Former Co-ordinator, Philosophy and Vivekananda Studies, USOL, Panjab University, Chandigarh has graced the occasion as a Chief Guest as well as resource person of this event. Professor Yajvender Pal Verma, Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh and NSS Co-ordinator, presided over the event. The Registrar (Professor Yajvender Pal Verma), Panjab University, Chandigarh, welcomed the resource person and said that youth should build self-confidence like Swami Vivekananda. Today we need to awaken Swami Vivekananda in himself to strengthen the entire nation. Dr Sudhir Baweja, the resource person, said that Swami Vivekananda was a spiritual leader, philosopher and social reformist of the 18th century. His teachings inspired a lot of young Indians and brought a spiritual awakening in this century, so his birth anniversary is also celebrated as National Youth Day. Swami Vivekananda represented India and Hinduism at the Parliament of the World's Religions in 1893. In remembrance of Swami Vivekananda, here are some of his inspiring quotes. "The world is the great gymnasium where we come to make ourselves strong." He said that the youth should take a pledge like the patriots, which would give the right direction to society by creating awareness regarding national integration and patriotism.

Dr A.N. Singh (Warden), Boys Hostel No. 3, congratulated students for their enthusiastic participation and encouraged them to follow the thinking of great patriots. Our foremost duty is transforming this society into a conducive and congenial place". Dr Tilak Raj, Warden Boys Hostel No. 2 and Dr Rajeev Kumar, Warden Boys Hostel No. 1, were also at the function. More than 100 residents, alongwith the staff of Boys Hostel no. 1, 2 and 3, were present on this occasion. Towards the end, Dr Tilak Raj Warden BH-2 thanked the speaker Dr Sudhir Baweja for explaining Swami Vivekananda's teachings and appreciated the staff of the Hostels' efforts. The said event ended with a vote of thanks and serving refreshments to the entire audience.
