Celebrating the power of the goddess - Dandiya Vibrance 2023

Jalandhar, October 22, 2023: Ivy World School, Jalandhar, under the guidance of Vasal Educational Group, organised a festive Dandiya extravaganza at the school premises hosting the parents of our shining Ivyians of Ivy World School and Ivy World Play School,  kindergarten wing. A visual feast was spread for the parents with colorful dances by the Uma Shanker Safari Troupe, songs, games, and refreshment stalls.

The dandiya dance imported the audience into Gujarat literally hearing the call of the silver sands of the Rann. With its origins in Gujarat, this popular socio-religious dance is performed during the time of the Navaratri festival. It is believed to be performed in the memory of Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasura.

Students gave vibrant live performances and the infectious beat encouraged the audience to participate enthusiastically dressed in colorful costumes to the beats of foot-tapping music. They struck decorated bamboo sticks called the dandiya in rhythmic clicks with energy and enthusiasm. The sticks represent the sword of the Goddess Durga.

The colourful and glittering ghagra-cholis and odhnis, the traditional costumes along with the dhotis and kurtas made the evening a feast of rainbow colours bringing alive every heart. The audience enjoyed the dances and the spread of snacks as they participated in the evening musical spectacle. The venue pulsed with life and vigour as complex circular movements in the dances were executed which are innate to the dandiya dance form leaving the dancers glowing with energy and happiness.

The President of Vasal Educational Group, K.K Vasal, the Chairman Sanjeev Kumar Vasal, the Vice President Ena Vasal, the CEO, Raghav Vasal and the Director Aditi Vasal along with  Principal and whole Ivyian family joined the parents in sharing their thoughts in this blessed season of the festivals that mark the most auspicious time of the year.
