CDOE Plants Hope, Nurtures Tomorrow
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and the nationwide Vanmahotsav celebrations, the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a Tree Plantation Drive. The programme reflected the Centre's commitment to environmental sustainability, ecological responsibility, and the creation of a greener future.
Chandigarh, August 3, 2026: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and the nationwide Vanmahotsav celebrations, the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a Tree Plantation Drive. The programme reflected the Centre's commitment to environmental sustainability, ecological responsibility, and the creation of a greener future.
The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Anju Suri, Coordinator, PU-ISSER, whose inspiring presence added significance to the occasion. In her address, she highlighted the importance of tree plantation in preserving ecological balance and encouraged educational institutions to take the lead in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable living.
The Tree Plantation Drive was led by the Director, CDOE, Prof. Geeta Bansal, who emphasised that planting a tree is not merely an environmental activity but a meaningful commitment to future generations. Under her visionary leadership, CDOE continues to combine academic excellence with social responsibility through initiatives that promote environmental consciousness and community engagement.
The event was organised with the enthusiastic support of the CIQA Convenors—Dr. Reena Chaudhary and Dr. Anil Kumar. Faculty members, research scholars, students, alumni, and non-teaching staff actively participated in the plantation drive by planting saplings and reaffirming their collective commitment to a cleaner, greener, and healthier environment.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to protect and nurture the saplings, reaffirming that every tree planted today is an investment in a healthier and more sustainable tomorrow. Through this initiative, CDOE once again demonstrated that true education extends beyond the classroom and finds expression in responsible action towards society and nature.
