CCA Punjab Telecom Circle, Chandigarh Signs MoU with Chandigarh Power Distribution Ltd. for Net Metering and Solar Power Sharing

Chandigarh, December 26, 2025: The Office of the Controller of Communications Accounts (CCA), Punjab Telecom Circle, Chandigarh on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chandigarh Power Distribution Ltd. (CPDL) for Net Metering and Solar Power Sharing.

The Office of the Controller of Communications Accounts (CCA), Punjab Telecom Circle, under the Ministry of Communications, Department of Telecommunications, is the nodal office for the State of Punjab with headquarters at Chandigarh.

In a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and sustainable practices, the Office of CCA Punjab today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) at Chandigarh for net metering and sharing of Solar Power.

V. N. Tandon, Controller of Communications Accounts, Punjab, addressing the meeting, informed that the CCA office will soon commission a 50 KW solar power substation. The CCA Punjab also stated that the unutilized solar power generated will be sold to CPDL on a net metering basis. This initiative will not only help in reducing the monthly electricity expenditure of the office but will also generate additional revenue for the office by selling surplus power generated by the 50 KW Solar Power Station.  The CCA Punjab also mentioned that this way the office will also be contributing positively towards environmental conservation which is the concern of the world today.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mandeep Singh, Joint Controller, highlighted the significance of the initiative and mentioned that the Office of CCA Punjab, Chandigarh, is one of  the first CCA office of the Department of Telecommunications of Government of India to undertake such a venture. The Joint CCA, emphasized that this milestone reflects the Department’s commitment towards adoption of green energy and sustainable development.
Speaking on the occasion the Director of CPDL Arun Kumar Verma congratulated the CCA Punjab and assured full support and cooperation in this venture.

The signing of the MoU marks an important step in strengthening cooperation between Government offices and power utilities and reinforces the Government of India’s vision of promoting renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
