CBI files supplementary charge sheet in mining case

New Delhi, April 10, 2014: The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a Supplementary Chargesheet against former Minister, Mines & Geology and then Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, both of Andhra Pradesh Government U/s 120-B of IPC r/w 409 of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w 13(`1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Hyderabad in a Obulapuram Mining Case

Further investigation in the said Case revealed that the then Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, and  the then Minister, Mines & Geology, both of Andhra Pradesh Government had allegedly issued provisional mining lease for 68.50 Ha in favour of Bellary (Karnataka) based private company without any justification & also violating the provisions of Mines & Minerals (Development Regulation) Act, 1957 (MMDR Act) & Mineral Concession Rules, 1960. Later, in addition to the said mining lease of 68.50 Ha, the accused persons also allegedly approved the grant of mining lease of 39.50 Ha in favour of Bellary based private company in violation of MMDR Act, 1957.

After thorough investigation, CBI filed a supplementary chargesheet.

The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial, says a CBI release.
